Osman arrived in the UK in 1985. He was a civil servant in Somalia, but was made redundant for his involvement in political activities against the Siyad Barre regime. He was the founder of HSCCA and was the chairman of the Haringey Refugee Forum.
Somali, even though it has been written and written for the last 30 years, Somalis rely still on oral history, and to understand oral history and to put benefit from oral history is to come together, find where that history is. And that history is found in good homes and in community.
