Belonging: Voices of London's Refugees
27 October 2006 to 25 February 2007, Museum of London
Belonging aims to be a thought provoking exhibition that challenges assumptions about refugees and explores the contributions they make to London. Find out what it means to be a refugee - to be forced to leave your country and to build a new life in exile.
Hear powerful personal stories and see objects, photographs, film and art that bring home tales of loss, adaptation and achievement. Developed in partnership with 25 community organisations, this exhibition includes inspiring real life accounts of refugees from Africa, the Middle East, Europe, Asia and Latin America.
Most of the oral history material featured in the Belonging exhibition was collected by the Refugee Communities History Project; 'Refugee Stories' is the website of the project and contains many more life experiences.
