Programme for Exilio, Latin American Exhibition
The main features of this exhibition are a film and a photographic display:
- Friday 28th July:
- Private viewing (closed to the public)
- Saturday 29th July:
- 6.00 pm Screening of ‘Exilios’ a documentary based on the lives of Latin American refugees living in London.
- 6.30 pm Screening of the powerful film ‘State of Fear’ about the impact of twenty years of violence and terror in Peru. The film is based on extensive testimonial evidence provided by The Truth Commission.
- “State of Fear” takes place in Peru, yet serves as a cautionary tale for a world engaged in a “global war on terror”. It dramatizes the human and societal costs a democracy faces when it embarks on a “war” against terror, a “war” potentially without end, all too easily exploited by unscrupulous leaders seeking political gain.
- Monday 31st of July:
- 6.00 pm Screening of ‘Exilios’ a documentary based on the lives of Latin American refugees living in London.
- 6.30 pm Screening of “The Revolution will not be televised” which details the story of the coup in 2002 against President Hugo Chávez from inside the palace.
- This film shows events before and leading up to the coup, the coup itself and the rise of peoples resistance to regain their democratically elected President.

- 6.00 pm Screening of ‘Exilios’ a documentary based on the lives of Latin American refugees living in London.

- This film recounts the events of September 11th, 1973 in Chile based on the testimony of Vladimir Vega. Winner of the short film prize at the Venice Film Festival (2002).
- 7.00 pm Screening of “Juva y Washina” a film co-directed by Sofia Vaccaro and Teilo Vellacott. This film is about the experiences of a Colombian illegal immigrant in South London.
